all about the blog...

Hello! Thanks for stopping by my humble little blog here. Thought the first post here should give a little info about the blog, in case anyone cares. ;)

My name is Missy, and I live about 30 miles north of Dallas, TX, in Denton. Married, one child (a five-year old who wants to be a Transformer), one dog...basically we are about 1.265 children and .5 dog short of the typical nuclear family. One of my favorite things to do is go out to eat (trying new restaurants especially!) One of my other recent favorite things is blogging. :D I think my ultimate job would combine both of these hobbies; when I grow up I want to be a restaurant reviewer! (I think the more professional term is "food critic" but that just sounds pretentious to me. Food critics never like anything. I mean, I AM somewhat picky, but not that picky!*)

Anyway, I started doing some searching, and didn't find any good blogs on dining in & around the Denton area. Dallas has guidelive.com, which features Dallas-area restaurants once a week, but Denton is rarely featured. Since I couldn't find anything, I decided to start my own blog dedicated to restaurant reviews in Denton! Most of my reviews are going to focus on the "mom & pop" type restaurants, seeing as everyone is probably familiar with the chain places. Not that I don't like the chain places, because I do (some of them I like a lot), but I wanted to bring attention to the places that are maybe skipped over a lot of the time. Like the mexican restaurant that is across the street from a beauty salon/nightclub/chainsaw repair place (I am not making this up! I have witnesses!) Talk about one-stop shopping...Walmart could learn a thing or two from them! lol

So...I have two reviews kind of floating around in my head. Hopefully there will be actual reviews written soon. Check back!

*okay, fine, I am very picky about cheese enchiladas. I'll give you that one...
